Flying over water with kitesurfing
Kitesurfing or kiteboarding as it’s also called by some is a high-intensity sport, which offers you not only high speeds but also the possibility to make high jumps and do awesome tricks.
A kiteboarder takes advantage of the wind power by using a large power kite to surf across the water on a kiteboard which in many aspects can be compared to a wakeboard or a small surfboard. Kitesurfing can be done both with or without foot-straps or bindings on the kiteboard.
Kitesurfing gear - What you’ll need to get going
So what do you need to get out on the sea? To start with you’ll need a traction kite also called a power kite. This kite comes in different designs and sizes.
You’ll of course also need a board for kitesurfing and a bar and lines to make sure, that you can control your kite. Furthermore, you’ll need a harness, a safety system, and other accessories such as a wetsuit, booties, lifejacket and a helmet.
The best way to get a hold of kiteboarding
As mentioned before kiteboarding is a fast-paced sport and a kitesurfer can reach a speed of more than 100 km per hour, that's why it’s crucial to know how to control the kite. That’s also why we recommend that you either take a kitesurfing course or lean it from an instructor or experienced kitesurfer.
Mastering your power kite and board will ensure you, that you’ll get a good first-time experience with kitesurfing. Furthermore, the ability to control your kite and your board is not only important for your health, but also for the health of other surfers, beachgoers, and bystanders.
