Yeah boiiiii! Winter X Games is just round the corner!
Everyone rejoice - it is time for winter X Games again! We are talking a weekend of triple corks, crazy 720s, and whoever knows what.
Snowboarders, skiers, winter-hibernating skateboarders, or simply anyone that is into action sports need to mark their calendars on the weekend of 24th - 29th January. Winter X Games are going to Aspen, Colorado and the Buttermilk Mountain is about to get filled up with the world’s best athletes.
Highlights for the snowboarders
One of the names to look out for in snowboarding is Anna Gasser. The Cab Triple Underflip she landed earlier this season made her the first woman to land the trick and everyone is eager to see if she is going to pull it out of her bag at X-Games.
One thing’s for sure, the Austrian snow-whisperer is about to give everyone a good run for that Big Air gold medal...again!
And since we are talking gold, snowboarding, and women, another highlight is fellow Burton rider, Chloe Kim. Choe is making history not only as a female but as a snowboarder in general.
Apart from the 4 X-Games gold medals, Olympic Gold and many of being ‘the first, the youngest’ etc., she has been awarded Best Female Athlete, Best Female Olympian, and Best Female Action Sports Athlete by ESPY in 2018.
And just for the record, she only 18 right now and won her first SuperPipe gold age 15!
Among the men, the battle is very close but, of course, we got our favs. Since we support the idea of showing personal style and creativity and not only giant jumps, flips and tricks, we are rooting for and excited to see what Danny Davis and Sage Kotsenburg will bring to the snow. We love you guys!
Freestyle skiing magic will be in the (big)air
And since brought up style, we cannot go without mentioning Henrik Harlaut - the Swedish skiing monster that is basically ruling the freestyle ski world right now.
Harlaut is not just a golden boy, he is a skier who ‘truely, madly, deeply’ loves skiing. Style, character and amazing skill are what we are sure to get from Henrik Harlaut.
Crazy skiing skill is coming from the female side as well. The Estonian teen, Kelly Sildaru is reaping gold medals and breaking records with her age and talent.
She will be competing in both in BigAir and Slopestyle, which, by the way, she won gold in her first X-Games appearance in 2016, at the age of 13! So, behold!
We can’t hide our support for one of the most charismatic skiers that also going to Aspen, namely Woodsy! James Woods is all about community, support and sharing the joy of skiing. Even the colab he made with Planks is called Good Times, so what else can you expect from the always-smiling Englishman.
Remember: 24th - 29th January, X-Games weekend, you can stream on @XGames channels on YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter, or watch on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. Now let it snow!
