How to Put Grip Tape on a Scooter

Stay in control on your pro scooter with a new sheet of grip tape. Applying grip tape is something you can do yourself but there are a few steps to follow, so our scooter expert Mike is on hand to walk you through the process:

1. First, measure your deck and grip tape.
2. Flip the grip tape and mark your measurements.
3. Using a ruler and a sharp knife, cut your grip tape.
4. Now, remove the brake, axle and deck ends.
5. Unstick the top part of your grip tape, and align it on top of the deck.
6. Make sure it's straight and start sticking it onto the deck.
7. Using the protective paper, squeeze out all air bubbles.
8. Make 2 small cuts in the grip tape at the end of the deck.
9. Now, score the grip tape along the edges of the deck.
10. Using a sharp knife, make a long steady cut along the sides of the deck.
11. Now slowly work your way around the back of the deck.
12. If needed, fix the sharp edges.

Now your scooter is gripped!
