Building Hope in Kiteezi – A New Chapter Unfolds

5 % of SkatePro’s Black Friday revenue goes back to the community – we call it Giveback Friday. In 2025, it added up to EUR 15,731 donated toward building a new concrete skatepark in Kiteezi, located north of Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. The construction of the skatepark is scheduled to begin in early January 2026.
The new skatepark, currently under construction, represents far more than monetary donations. It represents thousands of small choices made by skaters around the world who believe that skateboarding can create opportunity, connection, and hope. We’re deeply grateful to be a part of that.
From DIY Roots to Lasting Change

In Kiteezi, skateboarding has always been about initiative and resilience. In 2023, a group of young skaters led by Cynthia Kemigisha came together to build their own small DIY skatepark. The group calls themselves Climate Skaters Kiteezi, because they skate and organize events in an area heavily affected by environmental challenges.
The devastating Kiteezi Landfill Collapse in 2024 made these challenges tragically obvious, when the collapse of a large mountain of rubbish garnered international attention. The Kiteezi Landfill is the largest depository for waste in Kampala, a city that has a population of around 4.2 million people. The need for positive community action and long-term solutions became even clearer after the landfill collapse.
Make Life Skate Life and skaters from across Kampala, including Climate Skaters Kiteezi, are now working toward a shared goal – building Uganda’s first international-standard public concrete skatepark.
A Skatepark With Room for More Than Tricks

The new Kiteezi Skatepark will be a 450 m² free and public concrete skatepark, built by international volunteer builders alongside local youth. It will be a place where skaters of all kinds and levels can show up, learn, and progress.
Alongside the skatepark, a repurposed shipping container will serve as a community classroom. Here, workshops will focus on environmental education, leadership, and gender equality – using skateboarding as a starting point for broader conversations and personal growth.
Why This Matters to SkatePro

SkatePro Giveback exists because action sports have given so much to us. Engaging with the challenges of action sports builds character, friendships, and opens doors – and we believe those opportunities should be accessible to more people, everywhere.
Supporting Make Life Skate Life through Giveback Friday, is our way of turning everyday purchases into something bigger. No hype, no shortcuts – just steady, honest support for projects that strengthen local communities and keep the culture grounded in its values.

The Kiteezi Skatepark is still in progress, but the foundation is already there – in the commitment of the local skaters, the experience of Make Life Skate Life, and the collective support from skaters around the world.
To everyone who ordered gear, shared the story, or simply believed in the idea – thank you.
